Welcome to the Heidelberg Church website. We are located in Stoutsville, Ohio. At Heidelberg Church you will find a family of believers who love the Lord and love the work he is doing here.

We offer different opportunities throughout the year to grow in Christ. We meet for our Sunday service on Sunday mornings at 10 am.

Our services are traditional with music, scripture reading and a Christ centered sermon. We are not a church where you have to wear a suit. We believe God calls us to simply come and worship him. We invite you to come and worship with us at anytime.

What We Believe

We, the members of Heidelberg Church, acknowledge and believe that

  • The Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the Word of God, the infallible guide of faith and life. [2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:16-21; Hebrews 4:12; Psalm 119:105; James 1:22]

  • Every person has worth as a creation of the living God, however, we acknowledge that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. [Romans 3:23] Mankind was created in the image of God, fell into sin, and thereby brought about not only physical death, but spiritual death. This death is separation from God. [Genesis 3]

  • The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the means by which we are saved and restored to relationship with our heavenly Father. Christ has ascended into heaven and serves as our Great High Priest and Advocate. [Hebrews 4:14ff; 9:15; Romans 5:9]

  • Grace is a gift from God and comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation comes through Christ alone and is the redemption spoken of in Scripture whereby God desires to bring all of creation back to Himself. [Ephesians 2:8, 9, Romans 3:24, 6:14; John 14:6]

  • The forgiveness of sins is possible and the promise of eternal life is available to those who trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of their life. [John 3:16]. All who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again by the Holy Spirit, thereby becoming children of God and heirs of eternal life. [John 3:3ff, Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 1:3]

  • Good works are an evidence of true faith and love. These things were prepared beforehand so that we may walk in them with the help of the Holy Spirit. [James 2:14ff; Matthew 5:16; Colossians 3:23-24; Ephesians 2:10; Galatians 5:22-23; John 14:26]

  • The Church is the body of Christ and is called to glorify God through preaching, teaching, Christian living, evangelism, and works of service. We are called to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything Christ has commanded. [Matthew 28:16-20]

  • God will one day restore all things, the dead shall rise to life, and Jesus Christ will return and reign forever as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. [Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16]

  • God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He does not change and He does not contradict Himself. [Hebrews 13:8ff; Isaiah 40:8; Numbers 23:19]

  • The covenant of marriage as created by God is between one man and one woman. [Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:31]
